West Virginia Wildwater Association Beginner/Novice Paddling Clinic

The WVWA Beginner/Novice clinic is held in early June, usually on the Upper New River. The date and registration information will be posted on our calendar. The class size is limited to 16 students. You must be a member of WVWA to participate in the clinic. Students are separated into beginners (with little or no whitewater experience) and novices (with limited Class I and II experience). On Saturday, clinic participants will work on learning basic paddling strokes, eddy turns, peel-outs, and ferries. Participants will also focus on safety and basic river reading skills. Sunday features a club trip on the Upper New River. Clinic participants are encouraged to paddle on Sunday to work on their newly learned skills.
